The Colours of the Day
Between the wars, in the lush countryside of Southern France, Anna's parents become lovers. When their idyll is shattered amidst bitter recriminations, there is a marriage, then exile, then poverty - the ultimate test of love.
For Anna too there is passion - but Anna is forced into a loveless marriage and her daughter must never know who her real father is. Though Anna lives her life with courage and determination it is a life built on a tissue of lies, and the repercussions of her actions echo down the years. How long will it be before a slip of the tongue, a passing comment reveals all? Secrets may never be spoken, but diaries and letters can be time bombs of truth waiting to explode.
